Matthew J. Cox was appointed chairman of the board of Matson, Inc. in April 2017. Having served as chief executive officer since 2012, Cox oversees the entire Matson organization, which includes Matson Navigation Company, Inc. (ocean transportation), Matson Logistics, Inc. (logistics and supply chain services), and Matson Terminals, Inc. (terminal operations in Hawaii). He has served on the board of directors of Matson, Inc. since 2012.

Cox joined Matson in June 2001 as senior vice president and chief financial officer. In 2005, he became executive vice president and chief operating officer and had a key role in the start up of Matson’s China – Long Beach Express in 2006. In 2008, he became president.

Prior to Matson, Cox had 15 years of experience in the transportation industry. From 1999 to 2001, he held executive posts at Distribution Dynamics, Inc., a provider of outsourced logistics, inventory management and integrated information systems based in Danville, Calif. Cox held positions of increasing responsibility at American President Lines, Ltd. (APL), from 1987 to 1999, covering financial and operational aspects of the company.

Cox serves on the boards of Move Oahu Forward, Catholic Charites Hawaii, Foodland Super Market LTD, and World Shipping Council. He is also a member of the Hawaii Business Roundtable and the Shidler College of Business Advisory Council at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Cox has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from the University of California, Berkeley, and is a Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program graduate.

Ms. Ching was Executive Vice President, External Affairs of Alexander & Baldwin, Honolulu, Hawaii (NYSE:ALEX) from March 2018 to December 2025. As Executive Vice President of External Affairs at Alexander & Baldwin and through her extensive involvement in the Hawaii business community and local community organizations, Ms. Ching brings to the Board deep understanding about Hawaii and Matson’s operating markets. She also has public company board experience via her service on the boards of Hawaiian Telcom and Cincinnati Bell Inc.

Mr. Fukunaga has been Executive Chairman of Servco Pacific Inc. (“Servco”), Honolulu, Hawaii since October 2023 and was Chief Executive Officer of Servco from March 1994 to September 2023. As the current Executive Chairman and former Chief Executive Officer of Servco, a company with operations in automotive distribution and retailing, musical instruments and e-learning, and investments in venture capital and private equity, Mr. Fukunaga brings to the Board extensive operating experience and leadership skills. He is knowledgeable about Hawaii and Matson’s operating markets through his involvement in the Hawaii business community and local community organizations. In addition, Mr. Fukunaga has extensive business experience in the U.S. Pacific Northwest, Asia and the Pacific Rim.

Mr. Kuriyama was Chairman of Alexander & Baldwin, Honolulu, Hawaii (NYSE:ALEX) from June 2012 to September 2020. He was Chief Executive Officer of Alexander & Baldwin from January 2010 to December 2015 and executive Chairman of Alexander & Baldwin from January 2016 to December 2016. As the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Alexander & Baldwin, Mr. Kuriyama brings to the Board an in-depth knowledge of Hawaii and Matson’s operating markets. From September 2009 to June 2012, he also served as a Director and Chairman of the Board of the Company’s subsidiary, Matson Navigation Company prior to the Company’s separation from Alexander & Baldwin, and is knowledgeable about all aspects of the Company’s operations. Mr. Kuriyama also has extensive involvement in the Hawaii business community and local community organizations.

Ms. Lau was President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Hawaiian Electric Industries, Inc. (“HEI”), Honolulu, Hawaii (NYSE:HE) from May 2006 to December 2021. She was also Chairman of the Board and Director of American Savings Bank, F.S.B., a subsidiary of HEI, from May 2006 to December 2021, and a Director of Hawaiian Electric Company, Inc., a subsidiary of HEI, from May 2006 to May 2019. As the former President, Chief Executive Officer and a director of HEI, a large, publicly-traded Hawaii corporation, and as the former Chair of the Board of HEI’s banking subsidiary, Ms. Lau brings to the Board experience with capital intensive infrastructure and regulated industries as well as in managing complex business organizations. She also serves as Chair, National Infrastructure Advisory Council, which advises the President of the United States on the security of critical infrastructure sectors, including transportation, and their information systems. In addition, Ms. Lau has extensive experience in the banking industry and has been designated by the Board of Directors as an Audit Committee Financial Expert. She also is knowledgeable about Hawaii and Matson’s operating markets through her involvement in the Hawaii business community and local community organizations.

Mr. Tilden was Executive Chairman of Alaska Air Group, Inc., Seattle, Washington (NYSE: ALK) (“Alaska Air”) from March 2021 to May 2022, Chairman of Alaska Air from January 2014 to March 2021 and Chief Executive Officer of Alaska Air from May 2012 to March 2021. As the former Chairman and CEO of Alaska Air, Mr. Tilden brings to the Board deep transportation, strategic planning, financial and leadership expertise. He is knowledgeable about Alaska, the U.S. Pacific Northwest and Matson’s operating markets through his involvement in the local business and community organizations. He also has public company board experience via his service on the board of Nordstrom, Inc. and prior service on the board of Alaska Air.

Ms. Wall has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Foodland Super Market, Limited, Honolulu, Hawaii since 1998. As Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Foodland, the largest locally-owned grocery retailer in Hawaii, and other entities in the Sullivan Family of Companies, Ms. Wall brings to the Board experience in managing complex business organizations and real-time logistics expertise. She is knowledgeable about Hawaii and Matson’s operating markets through her involvement in the Hawaii business community and local community organizations. She also has public company board experience via her service on the boards of Alexander & Baldwin and First Hawaiian.
