OAKLAND, CA – Matson Navigation Company has been honored with a 2008 Toyota Logistics Excellence award for outstanding achievement. This is the second consecutive year Matson has received this honor from Toyota Logistics.
The Outstanding Achievement Award honored Matson for its role in successfully providing sailing and delivery priorities for Toyota’s roll out program for the company’s new Venza. Equally important, Matson worked closely with Toyota’s distributor in Hawaii, Servco Pacific, to ensure that Toyota’s Hawaii distribution requirements were addressed, particularly for dealers doing business on the Neighbor Islands. The efforts focused on the full range of Toyota’s service expectations, as well as a thorough program designed to ensure all vehicles were delivered damage free.
“Matson is extremely proud to receive this honor for the second consecutive year from Toyota,” said Ron Forest, Matson’s senior vice president, operations. “Delivering quality service for Toyota involves a cross functional team effort by operations personnel in all key port locations, as well as maintaining high levels of customer service and sales staff communications in order to meet the manufacturer’s unique needs in the Hawaii and Guam markets. Matson’s attention to detail encompassed weekly conference calls with Toyota Logistics to review operations, administration and damage prevention. We also were able to accommodate a special move for the company in a timely, cost effective and efficient manner. Matson continues to work closely with Toyota Logistics in providing a service of superior quality and value and build on the recognition we received for outstanding achievement in 2007 and 2008.”
Matson provides ocean transportation services to Hawaii, Guam, China and Micronesia, as well as logistics services through its subsidiary, Matson Integrated Logistics. Matson is a wholly owned subsidiary of Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. of Honolulu (NYSE: ALEX).
